May 5th Praise and Worship
Dear All:
When I came back from HK one month ago, John was planning to have a thanksgiving service on May 5th celebrating many events, our 40th anniversary,75th birthday for John as well as my mom coming back to Vancouver, and our new stage in life ( moving into senior home). We thought that will be a great time of celebration and we booked the church and arrange catering and invitations.
We just started to plan for this event and I was diagnosed with liver cancer. So in order to eliminate work on me by sending so many invitations to all our friends and waiting for RSVP and booking of catering service and small banquet etc. We cancelled our plan immediately.
One evening during our family prayer, I was given the thought that we can always glorify God through all occasions. With the encouragement and affirmations from brothers and sisters in Christ, we have decided to change the nature of the celebration from “a man and his family” mainly on John’s sharing to Shirley’s ” journey with God “. There will be no catering or refreshment or banquet, only testimonies and sharing the joy being a child of God on earth all the way to eternity.
Therefore, I will not send out any invitation, no RSVP and everyone who knows me or not know me will be invite to come. IT will be a praise and worship and testify how a wonderful blessings is when we anchor our life in HIM. If you know people that know me, welcome to share this with them, if anyone had friends who had cancer and facing death, they are welcome to come.
If the Lord willing, I hope to be there in person to share. If not, I will pre-record and show video, that will be a celebration of life then.
So the date is May 5th Sunday, 2:30-4:00pm at Knight Street sanctuary.
I just finished my lung Scan, and cannot confirm whether it is cancer or not, still need to do more test regarding the lump in the lung.
Will know the result in April 3rd when I am done with MRI.. At the meantime, I am full of joy and peace, and my spirit is good except very easily tired. No pain and sleep well.
Thanks for ALL the prayers that everywhere in the world had been praying for me.
With much gratitude and appreciation
Shirley
