Guest Book
Dear family and friends of Shirley,
Here is a place where you can leave a comment for Shirley. As she is going through chemo, she will not likely be able to meet people face to face. Instead, you can leave a note for her here, or email her directly. She does read her emails, especially at times during the night when she is up due to pain. Your words of encouragement, or perhaps a verse or song, would be very uplifting for her.
For you tech savvy people, stay tuned, as there will be a place where you can upload a video for a more ‘personal’ interaction. As this blog develops, we hope that Shirley will be able to post videos as well.
Blessings,
The Lams
Hi Aunty Shirley – I just wanted to let you know that I really enjoyed hearing your story today. It’s a truly inspiring story, and I am so thankful to have been able to share part of with you 🙂 Thank you so much for being such a blessing in my life; a teacher, a role model, and friend. I hope to see you soon – whether it be here on earth or in heaven, I will look forward to it.
I look forward to your updates, and I will keep you in my prayers.
with love,
David Ng
Dearest Auntie Shirley,
It was so wonderful to see you and hear your life story today. I brought my husband and baby girl with me because I wanted them to be in your wonderful presence. You have always been a great storyteller. I remember you taught us Sunday school and I loved your stories of how naughty you were as a kid. And I also enjoyed the naughty stories of your boys when they were young. Many of my favourite memories are because of you and all the programs and musicals you put on. I particularly remember playing Rock Paper Scissors with you for Joy Bucks at kids camp. I also fondly remember our trip down to visit Saddleback church in California. I hope my daughter will meet her own Auntie Shirley one day, someone who will make church and learning about God fun and personal. Meanwhile your amazing life story continues though it has come to that hard part with pain. May you continue to experience the peace that passes all understanding especially in those long wakeful nights. I consider myself one of the many blessed who have the privilege of knowing you.
Much love,
Pam So (Watkins)
Dearest Auntie Shirley,
Thank you so much for the beautiful, God-glorifying testimony today. I have been touched by your faithful life as teen in being trained by you for children ministry (though I attended RCAC) and as a mom of a young son, Jeremy (one of the evil henchmen in Captain Dependable), how you enthusiastically listened to my testimony at Moses’s end of internship celebration at TWU, and now through your courageous, hopeful battle with cancer.
Yes, indeed, our God never moves without purpose or plan. We are forever safe in His hands every single moment, through this short but often painful sojourn through this world where He’s training up and preparing us for much much greater things to come. The greatest chapters of your life with Christ are yet to come.
Much love and prayer,
Winnie
Dear Auntie Shirley,
Thank you for your heartfelt sharing and amazing testimony. God continues to use you to touch lives through your surrendering to his will. You certainly touched my life. I find it hard to find the words to express the gratitude I have for the years of caring you have shown me in church and as my teacher. Now that I have children of my own I am realizing the rare and precious gift I was given as a child. I pray that my children will experience this too and I can be a part of your legacy of sharing God’s love.
May Christ be the one to talk with you during the difficult nights. May he be the one to remove your pain and restore you.
Thank you to you, Uncle John and your whole family for treating my family as your own.
Bonded in Christ,
Pearl Hui (Chow)
Dear Aunty Shirley.
You and your family are such a gift to so many.
Thanks first for letting us be the Sunday School teacher to one of your sons, but he was very polite, and never let on that he was bored, nor give us a hard time when he did indeed know more than us, and was mature beyond his years.
I think back and can’t believe so much time has passed. Thanks for attending our wedding and letting Joe play violin on our special day. He was also very well behaved when he stayed over at our place. hee hee.
Also, thanks for simply always for your passion, honesty, and laughter. I still cherish the time I had the privilege to travel to Chicago with you and U. John, when I was a young mother of an 18 month old. I remember laughing at all your funny stories about your child raising experiences.
Thanks also for being our counsellors in Caleb fellowship.
You are as young at heart today as I remember you from those years. Your words today were even more life giving and seasoned with grace and wisdom as they were in years past. Thanks always for glorifying God and for your sober reminder at life’s brevity today.
We pray for yours and your family’s continued courage and strength to face the next chapter.
much love and with the affection of our Lord.
Abe, Deb and Chris Chan.
Hi Sherley,
I’m a very lucky man, I’m Grace Yan’s boyfriend. I was in the church yesterday and it was a very wonderful experience. I wrote to my family and friends in Quebec to tell them this great idea. Thank you very much and I pray for you.
Pierre
Auntie Shirley,
It’s been years since we’ve met face to face but through the few emails we’ve sent back and forth since I’m still blessed by your passion for His Kingdom. Through my 10 years in China I often think of how you’ve been touching others in other parts of the same country.
I can’t believe it’s been roughly 13 years since Ants’hillvania and how fun it was to work together and impact so many lives. Thank you for taking that step of faith to make a difference in the lives of others, including myself. Ah, yes, I still remember parts of the swing dance steps!
May the God of Abraham, Issac, and Jacob continue to give you the supernatural grace to see you through this most difficult trial. May He speak and say to you of a job well done.
You have been an inspiration to me and many others and I hope to bring the same zeal, joy, and impact to those around me.
Thank you, and In Him,
Ivan YUEN
My dearest Shirley
I heard you’re in God’s heaven. I read your letters and played the song over and over, my tears rolling down; though we didn’t see each other too often during the past 20 years, you’re always in my heart. I miss your laughs; your caring spirit and your energic in life (Boy oh boy, how could we ever be able to catch up with you?). Shirley, you’ve touched so many hearts in your life, especially mine ! Love. Teresa. See you in heaven
I come so late. I cannot believe. I dreamed of going to Canada one day to say thank you very much for introducing God to me. You are amazing!!!
