First Chemo
Dear All:
On TUesday I went with John for my first chemo. IT was not that frightening, they were waiting for me in a room with 2 other cancer patients on IV.
They gave me some strong steroids so that I will not throw up, John was sitting right next to me for the entire 1.5 hours, that gave me a lot of relief.
Afterward, when I am done, I feel fine. In the evening I am suppose to take another steroid and 3 more for the days to come. However,I start to sweat profusely and was so hot. John called the nurse and they told me to stop the steroid.
I slept well on Tuesday evening, and on Wednesday, I feel so energized that I over did it, being such a compulsive doer, I push myself too far. THen I collapse badly Wednesday evening. The pain grew and I need to shorten the time for morphine. It was a painful night, then I start to have hot flashes. At the middle of the night, start to have a bit fever which frightened me a lot, since anytime my temperature go up to 37.5 and above, I need to go to hospital right away. That whole night, it was sitting at 37.5 without coming down.
Of course, I was worried and so were John. I don’t want to go to hospital, so I prayed and pleaded with God, He finally allow the temperature to come down back to normal early Friday. The whole thursday was in such a bad shape that I can’t even walk down a few steps, just fall asleep like in a coma.
Today I am back to normal self and also learned that I MUST rest and not over do it. SInce the rest of the chemo will get into my system more, so it is truly every hour looking up to Jesus for relief.
Will try to rest as much as I could, so that I can see you all on Sunday, that will be my greatest wish.
Please keep praying that I will not throw up, will not have fever and of course, the pain will not grow further.
Love
Shirley
